A bit later on, after we'd ridden along Cemetery Road (hardly anyone about, the place seemed dead!), I pointed Little Willie in the direction of the open countryside and we crossed a flyover with the A11 underneath. Little Willie immediately began heading for the slip road - coughing and spluttering with excitement at the thought of a 'burn-up' along the road to London - but I managed to regain control and headed towards Hethel and the Lotus test track instead. We watched several cars racing past but, unfortunately, they wouldn't give way so we turned round and headed back towards Spink's Lane and stopped at the Cambridge line railway crossing. Then, dodging two trains, we came home!

Boy AlbieI've been the proud owner of a 1965 BSA Bantam D7 since 1991, affectionately known as Little Willie (Wilhelmina) and love to take her out for a ride so that others can see her. Archives
