Hughie has replaced the spring cup (90-40) and also fitted a heavy-duty primary chain (old number 90-134), and is just awaiting a chain tensioner before replacing the side cover and refitting the kick-start and gear change levers, then replace the silencer etc. Of course, if you're getting confused, BSA never fitted a tensioner to the primary chain, but this is something recently available and sounds a good idea!
I went to see Hughie yesterday morning to see how he was getting on with his D14/4 (it's a late model with the central plug). Unfortunately, it's not quite ready to fire up yet, although it should be ready to start in a week or so.

It looks like the previous owner had fitted a key-operated ignition switch on top of the headlight, but the key didn't come with the bike. However, looking inside the headlight there are just two wires to be re-joined to bypass the switch so it
