At first it had looked like all that was needed was a new kick-start spring (which we duly fitted), but then Hughie discovered the primary chain (90-134) was badly worn and had cut into the crankcase. Unfortunately, that meant a bit of a wait for the chain to be posted to him. He also discovered the spring cup (90-40) into which a spring (90-39) locates - the one behind the starter pinion (90-177) - so that meant another delay getting a replacement from Rex (Rex Caunt Racing). Hughie says he hopes to have it 'up and running' by next weekend. Watch this space!
After a rather inclement week - and that's putting it mildly - I was able to get out with my Little Willie and went to see how Hughie was getting on with his D14/4 engine rebuild.
